I am currently working towards getting a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education at Michigan State University!
As part of my course, I have had to do multiple assignments that involve observing student-led art classes, coming up with curriculum proposals, and finding different resources that could be used in the classroom.
Here is the work I've done so far:
SmART Observation Journal
The Department of Art, Art History, and Design Saturday Morning Art (SmART) program is part of the Art Education degree program, which affords pre-service Art Education Majors the opportunity to interact and work with school-age children. The creative program serves to broaden and enrich the art and educational experiences of all involved and is designed to expand SmART participants’ artistic and problem-solving skills, as well as their aesthetic and cultural awareness and sensitivity.

As a part of my Art Education class, we were to observe two Saturday Morning Art lessons and write an observation journal for each one.
Here are my two observation journals:
Contemporary Art Resource Sharing
Here is my art education class's resource sharing Padlet on Contemporary art resources. We each chose a topic and then found three resources to share. I chose the theme of environmental art:

Digital Art Teaching Resource Sharing
Here is my art education class's resource sharing Padlet on Digital art resources. We each found three resources that could be used in the classroom to create digital art such as digital paintings, gifs, stop motion, and animations.

Multicultural Artifact Studio Art Activity
For my midterm, I had to choose a multicultural artifact and then create a lesson plan around it. I based my lesson on an Ancient Greek Coin I found on the Chicago Art Institutes website. I provided information about the artifact and coins in ancient greek, and then created an art activity influenced by the lesson.
Community-Based Art Curriculum Proposal
The first art curriculum proposal we had to write for my art education class was focused on community-based art. We had to find a location near us that could be visited as a field trip and then create an activity that focused on community. I used a building in my hometown as my field trip location as it is the home to many small art businesses and gallery spaces.
Issue-Based Art Curriculum Proposal
My final project was to create an art curriculum proposal focusing on issue-based art. I chose the topic of environmental issues with a focus on loss of biodiversity. We first had to create an artwork based on the issue, so I created an interactive piece that demonstrates the impact we have on the Earth. In my lesson I introduce biodiversity and explain its importance and the threats it faces. I also use Dr. Seuss's "The Lorax" in my lesson and use it as inspiration for my art activity.
